𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐛 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐝𝐲𝐚𝐩𝐮𝐫

Tension gripped Bidyapur in Assam’s Bongaigaon district late at night on January 27 after a police team came under attack while responding to a complaint of unlawful detention, escalating into a serious law-and-order incident.

According to official sources, personnel from the Bidyapur Police Station had rushed to Gochorgaon in the Bidyapur area following information that an individual was being illegally confined by a family. However, as the police attempted to intervene and rescue the detained person, the situation quickly spiralled out of control.

An agitated group of locals allegedly turned violent, launching an attack on the police team and vandalising a police vehicle. The sudden flare-up created panic in the area and forced the police to take swift measures to bring the situation under control.

Police have since detained one individual in connection with the incident, while two others are being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have stated that further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.

Senior officials are monitoring the situation closely, and security has been stepped up in the area to prevent any further escalation.
