Dibrugarh: A person was killed in a cylinder blast in Duliajan at Kamalabari under Diliajan police station in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Rituraj Mech, 25, a resident of Da-Hakuta village in Duliajan, Assam.
Rituraj, the son of an ex-serviceman, was working in his outhouse warehouse when the explosion occurred.
The blast was so powerful that parts of the cylinder hit the roof of a house 50 meters away.
Deceased worked in private firms, engaged in exploration survey work of Oil India Limited.
“Currently he was working in a courier company,” said a source.
Meanwhile, top officials of Assam Police reached the spot and started investigation.
“We have registered a case of unnatural death. However, the evidence is being collected thoroughly and will be sent for forensic investigation,” said Assam’s Dibrugarh district Additional SP – Bitul Chetia.
