Political tensions escalated in Assam on Sunday, February 8, after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma publicly flagged Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi. The remarks, made during a special press conference earlier in the day, triggered a strong political reaction on the ground, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organising protests against the Congress in Dhubri and other parts of the state.

The BJPโ€™s Dhubri district committee mobilised a large number of party leaders, workers and supporters for a protest march on today afternoon, following CM Sarma’s press briefing. The demonstration began from the BJP Dhubri district office and proceeded through key areas of the town, culminating at Panchmor.

Raising slogans and carrying placards, BJP workers accused the Congress of compromising national interests and demanded a clear explanation from Gaurav Gogoi over the allegations highlighted by the Chief Minister. The protestors reiterated the partyโ€™s stand that issues concerning national security must be addressed with utmost seriousness and transparency.
