Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Sushmita Dev on Wednesday, October 8 condemned the alleged violent attack on the partyโs office in Agartala, accusing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of fostering an atmosphere of โviolence, dictatorship, and anarchy.โ
Speaking to reporters, Dev said a six-member delegation of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), comprising three sitting MPs and a Cabinet minister from West Bengal, had arrived in Agartala to assess the situation following the attack.
โYesterday, our office was violently attacked, posters were torn, and property was damaged. I am shocked that after we arrived from Kolkata, all the cars we had arranged to reach our office for a press meet were intimidated and put under pressure. We are currently left without any vehicles,โ she stated.
Despite the alleged obstruction, Dev affirmed that the delegation would proceed on foot to the party office. โI am not surprised because BJPโs DNA has violence, dictatorship, and anarchy. Attacking a party office is against the very spirit of democracy โ itโs nothing less than the murder of democracy. Car or no car, we are going to walk to our office,โ she added.
The TMC delegation is expected to meet with local party workers and take stock of the damages caused during the incident. Authorities have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the alleged attack.
