Ziro: Demand for speedy trial in journalist murder case by family

ZIRO: Over 2,000 people, including family members, well-wishers, NGOs and the council, gathered at the Padi Yubbe Outdoor Stadium here on Monday to seek a speedy trial in the alleged murder case of senior Congress leader and pioneer journalist Tasso Grayu. And the punishment can be demanded.
An elderly and prominent public figure of Ziro Plateau, Garyu was allegedly stabbed with a sharp weapon near Tasso Lapang in Hari Village, Ziro last March 22 at about 8.30pm.
Police have arrested the alleged suspect, a 70-year-old man, and he is currently in their custody.

A rally was also held that day which started from Padi Yubbe Outdoor Stadium, covered several areas such as Dani Kanya Higher Secondary School, Pai Gate and Hapoli Township and ended at the stadium.

The rally participants demanded justice for Tasso Grayu and said that such heinous crimes will not be tolerated in their community.
Several public leaders including former Minister Padi Richo, former MLA Nani Rabia, Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Nani Rajen, Tanw Supuñ Dukuñ (TSD) President HK Shalla, Supung Bulyang Council Member Nani Tatung, ZPM K Tasso Tana and Hege Dolo and others spoke. In favor of speedy trial and conviction. Speaking on behalf of the family of the deceased, District Agriculture Officer and Hari Employees and Pensioners Welfare Association (HEPWA) President Tasso Butung thanked all the participants for showing solidarity to the cause of the deceased.
