Young people are joining ULFA-I due to wrong policies of the government: Anup Chetia

Guwahati: Anup Chetia , general secretary of the pro-negotiation faction on the United Liberation Front of ULFA (ULFA), said on Saturday that youths were joining militant organizations due to wrong policies of the government.

Talking to media, Anup Chetia said that many youths in the state are attracted to Alpha Azad only because they are fed up with the policies of the government.

“It simply came to our notice then that many young people were joining the insurgency. Even the prices of medicines are rising day by day, “he added.
It should be noted that ULFA-I, led by Parish Barwa, has announced the death penalty for two of its cadres who were found guilty of spying for the army and Assam police.

However, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that the Assam Police only operates within the borders of Assam and the department cannot send spies abroad.
