Manipur Chief Minister N Baran Singh and Pema Khandu, Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh jointly launched Project New (NER Entrepreneurs World) at City Convention Centre, Imphal.
YLC 8 The project is the first attempt to map the skill aspirations of potential entrepreneurs in all eight states of the North East Region (NER) on a digital platform on a voluntary basis.
With its vast social, cultural and environmental diversity, the entire Northeast India is a powerhouse of natural resources and talent.
The landscape is full of untapped potential and with the Government of India’s current emphasis on NER, there is a greater need than ever to develop a database of skill gaps and needs.
The devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting reverse migration also fueled the need for such a database.
The project was designed in this backdrop by NABFUNDATION, a Section-8, Not-for-Profit, 3-year-old subsidiary of NABARD to combat the same issues.
A light and user-friendly website with a mobile application available on Play Store has been created under Project NEW.
Interested can fill the new registration form available on NER youth website or ‘The NEW’ app on Google PlayStore.
This online form will record their wants and needs related to skill acquisition, credit linkage and networking.
At its level, the NAB Foundation will map the skills and aspirations of the youth and present this state/district wise data stack to all interested stakeholders.
The data is of great importance to stakeholders like State Governments, SLBC Forums, Banks, NABARD, Civil Society Organizations and hundreds of training institutes in NER.
North East Small Finance Bank (NESFB) has stepped forward as a mentoring credit organization that will assess the credit needs of potential entrepreneurs on a proactive basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjeev Rohela, CEO, NAB Foundation, said that business solutions for NER should only come from the North-East hub. The project is funded by NABCONS, NABFINS, NABSAMRUDDHI and Dalmia Bharat Foundation under CSR. The project has tied up with YouthNet, TiLi, SeSTA and EastMojo for ground activation.
