When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Diganta Kumar Chaudhary said the wife had filed a missing complaint about her husband and mother-in-law in September and an investigation had been initiated.
He added that the husband and mother-in-law have been identified as Amarendra De and Shankari De.

“After some time, Amarendra’s cousin filed another missing complaint, which raised suspicions about the wife. Then we resumed our investigation and found out the murder,” Choudhary told PTI.

Both the cases were registered at Noonmati police station, and the twin murders took place in two different houses in Chandmari and Narangi areas of Guwahati, he said.
Without elaborating, Choudhary claimed that the murder was allegedly committed by Amarendra’s wife, her lover and another person suspected to be his childhood friend.
“After the murder, they cut the bodies into small pieces, packed them in polythene bags and took the bags to Meghalaya. There they threw them off the hills.

“We traced the bodies and recovered some parts from Meghalaya yesterday. Our operations are on to find the bodies or all the body parts of the two deceased,” Choudhary said.
