
Withdraw police commandos from Moreh demand by 10 Kuki MLAs
Imphal: Elected leaders of the Kuki-Zomi-Hmar community expressed their displeasure against the Manipur Police, especially the atrocities committed by the commandos on the innocent and helpless Kuki-Zomi-Hmar citizens in Tengnoupal district.
In a press statement, the tribal legislators said – “We want to highlight the continuous abuses and atrocities against our people by the state forces in Moreh and other places in Tengnoupal district based on ground reports.
That on 1st November, 2023, Sinam Kuki village of Tengnoupal district was attacked by Manipur Police commandos and destroyed houses and property/vehicles.”
Further, the lawmakers also claimed that in the ongoing operations in Moreh, state forces resorted to arson, indiscriminate firing, looting of civilian property, vehicles and household goods, including valuable jewellery/documents/gold/cash. Also included and forced to persecute without provocation. Common people including women and children to flee to the nearby forest.
“Several women were brutally assaulted/molested by the commandos and admitted to a local hospital,” the release mentioned.
The Kuki MLA’s statement said, “Our people have lost confidence in the state forces due to numerous incidents of their direct involvement in attacking Kuki-Zomi-Hmar villages during the current conflict.” ”
Moreover, the MLAs have expressed serious concern and concern over the deployment of Manipur Police Commandos at various forums including the Central Government and requested their non-deployment in Kuki-Zomi-Hmar dominated districts of Manipur. , legislators appeal to MHA. Deploy neutral force in Moreh and also demanded action against erring state police officers.
