With 30-day temporary permit Manipur brings new ILP rules

Imphal: The Manipur Government has announced new Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations for Indian citizens entering the state through the Jiribam district at the Assam-Manipur border.

Mayengbam Veto Singh, Joint Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur in an official report states that a new temporary ILP would be issued to the Indian citizens on arrival at the ILP Check Post/Gate at Jiribam for 30 days.

The new initiative is being taken because of the inconveniences faced by frequent visitors coming to Jiribam from Assam daily for small business.

The report states that the state Government has decided to regulate visitors’ entry and exit in such a manner that the temporary Inner Line Permit (ILP) may be issued once for 30 days.

The visitors requiring daily entry and exit may be allowed to move in and out for that 30 days without exiting from the system and subsequently to exit just before the validity of such Temporary ILP expired, it added.

The ILP, an official travel document issued by the state government to allow inward travel of an Indian citizen visiting Manipur for a specific period, was introduced in Manipur on January 1, 2020.
