Guwahati: The Assam Rifles – India’s oldest paramilitary force with an unparalleled history of over 187 years – will highlight the message of gender equality and unity in diversity this time at the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 26.
A 144-member dependents backed by the Assam Rifles Military Band will march with honor and pride on New Delhi’s Kartayva Path on the occasion of Republic Day, bringing with it the spirit and spirit of the Northeast.
In a sui generis initiative, the Assam Rifles will demonstrate ‘gender equality’ and ‘unity in diversity’ at the parade by fielding a mixed contingent of men and women soldiers in equal numbers. The contingent will be led by Captain Akshay and will include soldiers recruited from different parts of the country. This reflects the Assam Rifles’ belief in equal opportunities for all.
Since 2015, women soldiers have been deployed on frontline duty alongside their male counterparts in various locations including the North East, Jammu and Kashmir and UN missions.

The organization is well equipped to meet the various security needs of India. Known as the ‘first responders’ in the North Eastern region, the Assam Rifles has consistently demonstrated its ability to respond to any situation quickly and effectively.
