Wild elephant ‘toys’ with a car in Guwahati, Assam

Assam Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi has shared a video of a wild elephant ‘playing’ with a car in Assam’s Guwahati on social media.

In the video, a wild elephant can be seen pushing a parked vehicle for fun at a point in Assam’s Guwahati city.
However, Assam Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi raised the issue of the growing human-elephant conflict by sharing the video.

“A real-time lesson for peaceful coexistence,” Assam Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi said while sharing the video.
Notably, with rapid urbanization, human-elephant conflicts have also increased in Assam.

From 1980 to 2003, about 1,010 people in Assam and more than 1,150 in the Northeast were killed in human-elephant conflicts.
