Dimapur: Youths from seven villages under Dimapur-II Assembly Constituency on Tuesday declared their support for Moatoshi Longkumer, who is contesting the February 27 assembly elections in Nagaland on the ticket of NDPP at Andisan village ground here, a unity rally was held.

In his address, the current MLA of Dimapur-II Constituency Longkumer expressed his views for the development of his constituency and Dimapur in general.
Mentioning his priorities, he said his vision is to empower the youth by providing them self-employment opportunities by imparting skill training, promoting sports by organizing tournaments and providing sports scholarships, and to make Dimapur a clean and ecologically livable city by planting trees.
He added that his priorities include holding monthly ‘town hall meetings’ with the citizens of the constituency to discuss ways and means of solving problems, forming village or colony watchdog groups to combat drug addiction. Fighting the scourge, providing sustainable livelihoods where all communities can cooperate with each other. – If he gets “chosen”, co-exist with mutual respect for each other, among others.
Longkumer pointed out that Nagaland holds the dubious distinction of having the highest number of unemployed educated youth in the country. He felt that if the problem persisted, the youth would take up arms.
On the menace of drugs among the youth, he said that no law enforcement agency can control it unless the public gets involved because “we know what our neighbor is cooking in his house.”
Longkumer, who was first elected to the Nagaland Assembly on an NPF ticket in 2018 but joined the ruling NDPP in 2021, said he could not do much of the development work and did not help anyone. They could because they were mostly in the opposition. its duration. He hoped that since he got the ruling party’s ticket this time, he would be able to make his vision for the constituency a reality.
He appealed to the voters of the constituency to come together and join hands to move forward.

Longkumer also thanked Supu Jamir who filed his nomination as an independent candidate from the constituency but withdrew his nomination papers on February 10, the last day to withdraw nomination papers, to work together for a better future for the citizens of the seat.
