Stressing the need to oust the current BJP government from power, on 30 August, former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that until all political parties and the common people start a movement against the ruling BJP in 2024. If not, economic demands will be difficult to meet.
Sarkar said this while attending a CITU rally in Agartala, which included a 16-point charter of demands, including wages, work, food, rehabilitation of retrenched workers, bonuses, and an end to oppression of workers.
“The state government has to play an important role in implementing the above 16-point demands. The present government in Tripura is working on the directives of the central government. So they have been working against the interests of the people from the very beginning.
This government does not care about working class people and only cares about corporations. The government is thinking about how to divert the mountain of profits accruing from them,” Sarkar said.
CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chowdhary said that there is no such system for farmers under the current government. Due to which the condition of farmers is alarming.
Mandal and Morcha leaders are looting all the money scattered in different departments. They are looting the money that was sanctioned for MGNREGA and TUEP workers. No one to monitor or take notice of this matter. Such a terrible situation is going on in the state of Tripura”, he added.
