Union Minister: Center to create ‘technology centres’ for MSMEs

Guwahati: Union Minister Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma on Sunday said the Union government will increase the number of technology centers to provide tools, trained staff and consultancy to MSMEs to stimulate the growth of industries.

Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Verma inaugurated the two-day ‘MSME Technology Centers Conclave’ here, and during the Covid-19 crisis, the sector has Highlighted the important role played.
“The MSME sector plays an important role in the development of manufacturing as well as services and contributes to the growth of the Indian economy. MSMEs are also the largest employment generators after the agriculture sector,” he said.
Verma said that the technology centers set up across the country by the Ministry of MSME provide impetus for growth and integrated development of industries by providing quality equipment, trained staff and consultancy.

“The ministry is in the process of setting up more such technology centers across the country to meet the growing technological needs of the MSME sector due to competition in the global market,” he said.
The minister said that such centers would also cater to the demand of skilled manpower of the MSME sector to be globally competitive and self-reliant in the domestic market.

The two-day conclave has been organized to showcase the power of these technology hubs and hand-held MSMEs in the Northeast region.
Verma said that in these facilities, advanced technology, machinery, testing equipment and various services are offered to MSMEs at a very competitive price.

“The ministry is investing periodically to upgrade these centers by introducing latest technologies like 3D printing, CAD/CAM, CNC machines, vacuum heat treatment, robotics and process automation,” he added.
