Ukhrul new DC Zuringla says feels honor to serve own community

Ukhrul: Two decades after Ramnganing Muivah, Zuringla Kengoo became the second person from the Tangkhul community to serve as deputy commissioner in Manipur’s Ukhrul district. She is also the first woman DC of the district.

Speaking to Media on his first day of work on Monday, Zuringla said that though she has been appointed by the government, she is happy to be posted in her home district.
“It is a great pleasure to be able to serve people in my own home district. I am sure people have high expectations from me and I will do my best,” she said, adding that he Support from various stakeholders will be required.
Talking about her priorities, Zuringla , 56, said she wants to focus on development, especially in the education sector in Ukhrul.

She also asserted that Tangkhul community is known for good leadership and the community needs to reconsider its old priorities and now focus on development.
