Udalguri: on MDM scam School head and businessman sent to jail

Udalguri: Headmistress Neena Majumdar of Khusurabari High School and Mintu Saha, a businessman from Mazbat under Mazbat police station of Udalguri district, were arrested and sent to jail for serious irregularities in the school’s mid-day meal (MDM) scam.

According to the sources, local guardians of the school and members of the school management committee smelled a rat on the way to receive rice under the school’s MDM scheme and filed an FIR in Mazbat police station and after thorough investigation the headmistress confessed to the crime.
The police had arrested the headmistress on April 5 last in the case of 35/23 as per the FIR while Mintu Saha, the traders, had been arrested on April 6 last in the same case.

Earlier, the school management committee and guardians of Khusurabari High School conducted an inquiry at Mazbat Cooperative Society from where the head of the school received rice under the MDM scheme and found serious irregularities.
However, the head of the school promised to return the remaining bags of rice to the school after the confession.

Meanwhile, the school guardians and the school management committee demanded the suspension or immediate transfer of the head of the school and a memorandum in this regard was submitted to the deputy commissioner of Udalguri district on March 30 last.
