Two quakes in Assam, Meghalaya
Guwahati, May 16 (PTI) Two magnitude 3.9 earthquakes shook Meghalaya and Assam in less than 24 hours, official reports said on Monday.
The epicenter of the first quake, recorded at 9.47 on Sunday night, was at a depth of 12 km in the Nongpoh area of Meghalaya and the second at a depth of 55 km in Nagaon , Assam.
At 3.22 pm on Monday, a second tremor was felt in parts of central and northern Assam, according to reports.
Specialists said there were no quick reports of wounds or serious harm.
The northeastern piece of the nation falls in the high seismic zone, because of which quakes happen regularly around here.
On April 28, 2021, a size 6.4 seismic tremor shook Assam and portions of the Northeast, making it probably the most grounded quake in the locale as of late.
