Two killed, houses burnt in miscreants attack in Kamjong district

ManAt least two people were killed and two others injured in an attack by unidentified miscreants in An Mollen village, 23 km southwest of Kasom Khullen police station in Kamjong district, at around 5 am on Thursday, and 63 houses were burnt down, sources said.
Sources said that in the said village, the attackers set fire to 43 houses in N Mollen village and 23 houses in T Nadyang village, which is located 3 km away from N Mollen village.

Sources added that no casualties were reported in Te Natyang village as the villagers had already left their homes a few days ago.
The two deceased have been identified as 48-year-old Jaminthang Kipgen son (L) Letsei Kipgen and 68-year-old Deikhokim Simte wife Lenchinthang Simte and the injured include 25-year-old Jangminlal Haokip son of Ngulkholun Haokip and 28-year-old Thangkholun Haokip, son of Thangkholun Haokip, are all residents of N Mollen village, police said.
Sources said two injured persons went missing after receiving first aid at PHC Kasom Khullen, of whom, villagers said, might have gone to Churachandpur.

According to a report filed by the village head of N Mullen village at the Kasom Khullen police station, around 2,000 people were involved in the attack.
The bodies will be taken to the JNIMS mortuary for post-mortem by a team from Kasom Khullen police station after an investigation by SDO Island Kangpokpi district on Friday.

According to reports, personnel from the Assam Rifles post in Somrei hills were denied entry to N Mollen and T Natyang villages by a large number of women at the foot of the AR post during the attack.
