Two HIV cases being detected daily in Tripura: CM Biplab Deb
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday expressed his deep concern over the sharp rise in HIV cases in Tripura and said that the youth of the elite society are the biggest victims of the scourge of drugs.
Deb while addressing a special smile function of healthy athletes organized by Abhoy Mission at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel also said that on an average two cases are being detected every day in the total case load of the state.
“Every day, two new cases are being reported in the state. The situation is alarming. Most of the positive patients have a history of drug use. In most cases, the victims belonged to the elite. They are doing well,” Deb said. They are educated, well-educated and have a good financial background. But, despite having a bright future, they have taken the wrong path of drug use which has quietly ruined their future. ”
The Chief Minister also told the parents of special children that his government was compelled to open drug rehabilitation centers by spending money from the state exchequer due to the situation created by the drug menace.
“In the previous budget, Rs 200 crore was allocated for two drug rehabilitation centers in Tripura. This is a huge amount, and it could have been used for poverty alleviation or public welfare schemes, if drug There would be no challenges with the use. On the other hand, special children are not like them. There are very few instances of special children going astray in such ways, “Deb explained.
Referring to the Bhagavad Gita, Deb said, “I want to tell all the parents here, don’t be discouraged. They have a role to play in nurturing so that they can achieve something in life. “
