Aizawl: Acting on specific information, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Aizawl Police’s Special Branch (CID) recovered arms and ammunition in Chite veng area of Aizawl on Thursday, Assam Rifles said in a statement.
He said that two persons were arrested in connection with the recovery.
He said that the recovered arms and ammunition included two Point 22 pistols, four live rounds of Point 22 ammunition, two Point 22 pistol magazines.
It said that a Royal Enfield bullet bike was also seized from the two accused.
The statement added that the recovered arms, ammunition and the two suspects were handed over to Bawngkawn Police Station on the same day.
According to the Assam Rifles, recovery has prevented the loss of precious lives.
In another recovery, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Customs Department recovered 110 bags of smuggled nuts worth Rs 2,000. 61.6 lakh in Zote village of Champhai district near the Myanmar border on Wednesday.
