Two arrested for raping a woman in Karbi Anglong, Assam

Diphu: In Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, two people, including a school teacher, have been arrested on charges of allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman and making videos of the incident, police said on Saturday. ۔

Police said the two allegedly lured several women by promising them loans and then raped them in the past.
A married woman from the Dokmoka area was similarly lured to a field in the Kamrup metropolitan district where she was raped and a video of the incident was made in February this year.

Upon her return, the woman contacted the rights group Karbi Anglong Women’s Justice Forum (KAWJF), alleging that the school teacher was blackmailing her into making the video public.
The KAWJF recently registered a case at the Defoe police station and police later arrested the two.
