Tuluni festival marked by Sumi Community Daklane & Kitsubozou

Kohima: The Sumi Community Daklane & Kitsubozou (SCDK) Kohima today celebrated Tuluni festival with much pomp and traditional gaiety at Mt. Olive College, Daklane, Kohima.

Tuluni is the premier festival of Sumi-Nagas. Tuluni festival is celebrated to welcome the arrival of the new crop/fruit from the field. Prayers are offered to thank God for the abundant yield in the preceding year. It is also a time to exchange and share among the members which keeps the social bond alive and strong in the community.

The celebration was graced by Aronto Jimo, PS to Minister PWD (R&B) Nagaland as the special guest. Jimo said that Tuluni is an important festival of Sumi people as during the festival, the people renew friendship, brotherhood and spread the message of love and peace.

The programme was chaired by SCDK chairman Pukhalu Kiho while significance of Tuluni was shared by Tolitoli. Message from Kazheli Tungoe, councillor, Daklane Ward was also read out during the celebration.

The annual report of SCDK was given by Secretary Akaho K Yeptho while vote of thanks was proposed by SCDK banker Luveto Shohe. The celebration was marked by indigenous songs, yell, traditional fire making, indigenous games and Tuluni feast.

The new team of SCDK was also been announced for the tenure 2024 to 2027 with Pitovi Swu as chairman, Hoikhe Yeptho- vice chairman, Lukheto Shohe- finance secretary, Hepito Sheqi-secretary, Kaholi Kiho- cultural secretary, Kivili Awomi- assistant cultural secretary, Mughato Yeptho- information secretary, H. Kihoto Chishi- Banker and Pukhalu Kiho as advisor.
