Agartala Firing Incident

Agartala: Sensation erupted after a firing incident late on Tuesday night in Natunnagar area on the outskirts of Agartala city in Tripura.

The exchange of gunfire took place in front of a restaurant along the highway, resulting in at least two gunshot wounds.
Police have arrested two persons in connection with the firing incident near Agartala city of Tripura on Wednesday morning.

The arrested persons have been identified as Prabhakar Ghosh (40) and Santosh Das (35).
Tripura police informed that the accused fired four rounds from a small weapon.

Both the arrested men are said to be close associates of local BJP MLA Dilip Das and have been involved in various crimes including drug trafficking.
The two injured have been identified as Sanjay Das and Haripad Das.

Both the injured were immediately shifted to the hospital where doctors declared them out of danger.

The bullet hit Sanjoy in the back and Haripada sustained injuries on his hand and leg.

The two injured persons and four other persons were eating fast food in the restaurant when suddenly two vehicles stopped in front of the restaurant and started firing indiscriminately.

After that, the accused fled towards the airport.

Police say the incident is the result of a factional feud between two contractor groups.
