Tripura: Senior BJP leader quits party, alleging factionalism and corruption

AGARTALA: In what can be termed as a major shock to the ruling BJP in Tripura, a senior party leader has resigned from the party’s core membership.

The development comes ahead of the Autonomous District Council (ADC) and village committee elections in the Tripura Assembly elections.

Ranbir Bhattacharjee, Senior BJP leader quits , submitted his resignation to Senior BJP leader quits and CM Manik Saha.

In tendering his resignation, Bhattacharjee alleged factionalism and power struggle among BJP leaders.
He was recently elected mandal president of Kailashahar.

In his resignation letter, Bhattacharjee expressed his inability to continue in charge, as the organization (BJP) was “running with interest”.
Bhattacharjee alleged that due to the high profile of some BJP leaders close to Tripura Labor Minister Bhagwan Das, it has become difficult for him to manage the organisation.

“Immediately after taking over as Mandal President, I tried to revamp the organization by removing all the corrupt people who have otherwise proved detrimental to the BJP. But this move has left a section of party leaders disaffected. led to several differences with those who are close to the minister,” Bhattacharjee alleged.
He said, “Issues related to corruption, criminal involvement and non-BJP activities of some state-level leaders and ministers have been reported to the party’s national president, prime minister and home minister several times but so far no action has been taken.” No action was taken.”
