Tripura post-poll violence: Section 144 imposed in Agartala. S4ection 144 CrPC has been enforced in Agartala city.

Violence erupted after polling in several parts of Tripura on Sunday following the announcement of by-election results.

To ensure that the violence that erupted immediately after the results were announced did not escalate further.

SDM President Asham Saha banned people from gathering in urban areas under Section 144 CRPC.
The orders were issued after a clash between BJP and Congress workers in Agartala.

Agartala city in which about 20 people, including state Congress chief Birajit Sinha, were injured.

In view of the fear of further deterioration of law and order, the Agartala President’s Administration enforced Section 144 in the Agartala Municipal Corporation areas.
According to the orders, a set of special restrictions was passed such as no double riding on motorcycles, collection of brickbats was strictly prohibited, no more than two motorcycles were allowed to run together, etc. ۔
