Tripura 'Political Violence': One Killed, Three Injured

Agartala: Tripura Political Violence, The northeastern state of Tripura has been rocked by incidents of alleged “political violence” in the past few days.

A youth leader of the opposition CPI-M was allegedly beaten to death by some miscreants in Tripura on Friday evening.

Tripura CPI-M has accused the BJP of lynching a youth leader of the party in Gomti district.

The CPI-M on Monday organized a protest over the death of the young leader, threatening to disrupt normal life in the state unless he withdraws.
The CPI-M has demanded Tripura police to take immediate action against the culprits, who killed the 26-year-old CPI-M youth leader.

CPI-M youth leader Tapas Roy was allegedly beaten to death by some “BJP goons” in the evening, after he refused to give money for conducting Kali Puja in his area.

Rai was a resident of Chelagang Subhash Colony, Amarpur, Gomati District, Tripura.

The CPI-M alleged that a group of BJP workers ransacked Tapas Roy’s house, brutally beating him and his mother.
The mother-son duo was rescued by Tripura police personnel and admitted to a local hospital.

Tapas Roy was later referred to Agartala Government Medical College Hospital in Tripura in critical condition.

Roy succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

The victim’s family also lodged an FIR against “BJP goons”, but the CPI-M alleged that the Tripura police had not yet taken any action to arrest those involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, tension continued on Monday in the border village of Ranguti in Kailashahar under Unakoti district of North Tripura while violence broke out between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress on Saturday night in which at least two BJP workers were injured.
The BJP alleged that “Congress-backed miscreants” attacked them with sharp weapons when their workers were returning home from their party work in Rangauti Bazar and BJP workers Malikullah, Pallab Dutta were killed. And seriously injured Mutaser Ali.

Later, Mutaser Ali went missing and no trace of him could be found till now. The Congress, on the other hand, alleged that BJP workers suddenly attacked their party office building and vandalized several important items.
