
Tripura police unearthed 27 mortar shells near Bangladesh border
Agartala: Tripura police unearthed 27 rusted mortar shells on Thursday after a man discovered them while digging a pond in Bamutia, located in the Mohanpur sub-division of West district in Tripura.
Panic spread through the area after Dulal Nama and his family unearthed the mortar shells during the excavation.
Upon receiving the report, a large contingent from the Tripura police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) at the Bamutia outpost quickly arrived at the scene and commenced further excavation.
โWe received information that Dulal Nama, a resident of Bamutia village under the Mohanpur sub-division in Tripuraโs West District, found some bomb shells while digging his land for a pond. After discovering them, they informed the police, and we rushed to the spot. We have recovered 27 bomb shells, which were buried in the field but were damaged. Judging by their appearance, the bomb shells may be 50 years old,โ said Bamutia outpost officer-in-charge Anthony Jamatia.
