Agartala: A 40-year-old man was sentenced to death in Tripura’s Khoi district for killing five people, including his daughters, elder brother, a police officer as well as a passerby.
The man, identified as Pradip Debroy, was initially believed to be mentally ill.
However, after being examined by doctors, they found him mentally fit.
He committed the crime on November 26 last year and was found guilty by the court after investigation and trial.
This person is a daily wage earner and a resident of Uttar Ramchandraghat Ghat.
He was found guilty of murdering his two daughters, Aditi and Mandira, with an iron rod.
He then killed his brother Amalesh Debroy for interfering.
He then attacked passers-by, killing Krishnadas who was seriously injured.
Meanwhile, Khowai police station officer-in-charge Satyajit Malik reached the spot with a police team but the killer attacked him (Malik).
Malik was seriously injured in the attack and died in a hospital in Agartala.
The police somehow managed to arrest him and a charge sheet was filed after investigation.
