Tripura: IPFT renews demand for separate state ahead of assembly polls.

Agartala: Tripura: IPFT renews demand for separate state ahead of assembly polls. The junior ally in the ruling BJP-IPFT alliance, the IPFT, today staged a mass sit-in at the Jantar Mantar ground in Delhi demanding the formation of Tipperary state along with the geographical area of the Sixth Scheduled Areas.

It is also worth mentioning here that the party celebrated its statehood day in New Delhi for the first time since its inception.

Barring supremo NC Debbarma, all senior party leaders joined the mass sit-in that lasted for about five hours. Hundreds of party workers gathered at the Jantar Mantar ground to press their demand for a separate state.
“IPFT renews and will continue to agitate for the core demand of Tipraland and unlike other political parties it will never entertain vague dreams for its workers,” said Prem kumar Riang, the party’s working president and minister.

Apart from him, heads of all frontal organizations, general secretaries and senior members of the IPFT Central Executive also spoke on the occasion. Later, IPFT leaders submitted a separate memorandum to the offices of the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
It is pertinent to mention here that Tipra Motha has repeatedly accused the IPFT of remaining silent on the issues hindering the development of indigenous tribes. The party lost its base as TIPRA came to power in TTAADC areas.
