Agartala: Senior IPFT leader NC Debbarma on Thursday took over as party president again, dismissing incumbent Mayur Kumar Jamatia and holding an interim state conference in Nazrul Kalakshetra Agartala.

The junior coalition in the BJP-IPFT government was engulfed in a wave of resentment shortly after Mayur Kumar was elected party president of the Jamatia during a two-day state conference on April 3-4.
According to party insiders, the senior party leaders were sidelined by Mayur Kumar Jamatia and his new team of executives had sparked outrage in the party ranks and file. A senior party leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the leaders of all the divisions of the party had finally jumped on the bandwagon by dismissing the new committee.
Addressing a press conference after the interim state conference, the newly elected state president NC Debbarma said, A state conference was convened for the party. But, the process remains incomplete. We have been forced to convene a meeting to maintain the sanctity of the party. ”
Expressing outrage against a section of party workers, Debbarma said, “We have taken note of numerous media reports and most importantly, political circles are speculating that the IPFT will soon It will merge with another political party. I want to make it clear that all these rumors are baseless and that the IPFT will continue to work while maintaining its spirit and the basic demand of Tipperland.
He alleged that a section of party leaders holding responsible positions had played a role in strengthening these rumors and party leaders at all levels were of the view that strict disciplinary action should be taken against them.
