Tripura: Justice Apresh Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.
Justice Singh’s appointment as Chief Justice of Tripura High Court was approved by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday.
An official notification said, “…the President is pleased to appoint Jharkhand High Court Judge Mr. Justice Apresh Kumar Singh as Chief Justice of Tripura High Court from the date he will assume charge of his post.”
“In accordance with relevant provisions under the Constitution of India, the President of India has appointed Jharkhand High Court Judge Justice Apresh Kumar Singh as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court,” Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said.
On February 7, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Singh as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court after the retirement of his predecessor, Justice Jaswant Singh.
Born on July 7, 1965, Justice Apresh Kumar Singh passed BA Honors and LLB from Delhi University.
He was admitted as an advocate and practiced in the Patna High Court from 1990 to 2000 and in the Jharkhand High Court from 2001 until his promotion as a Judge of the Jharkhand High Court.
In 2012, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court and was confirmed as a Permanent Judge in 2014.
