Tripura by-polls ‘largely peaceful’, 76.62% voter turnout recorded: CEO

Agartala: According to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kiran Gutti by-appointment of four gathering bodies electorate in Tripura, 76.62 percent of votes were projected till 5 pm on Thursday.
He said the polling process was largely peaceful, with the exception of a few sporadic incidents, including the stabbing of off-duty police constable Sameer Saha in the Kunjaban area of the Agartala constituency.
He added that Saha is currently undergoing treatment.
The most raised turnout of 80.41 percent was kept in the Jobraj Nagar Assembly body electorate while 80% reviewing happened in the Surma allies.
Town Bardowali Assembly constituency, where Chief Minister Manik Saha is the BJP’s candidate, recorded the lowest turnout of 69.54%.
Agartala seat recorded a 76.72% turnout.
In the 2018 Assembly elections in the state, 87% of the votes were cast.
