Tripura: 50% of TTAADC areas are facing water crisis, says TIPRA chief Pradyot Debbarma
AGARTALA: Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the TAPRA and Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Pradyot Debbarman has said that more than 50 per cent of the area under TTAADC is facing severe water crisis.
Pradyot Debbarma , head of TIPRA, said that in more than 50 per cent of TTAADC areas, households do not have access to safe drinking water and people in hilly areas have to go through great difficulties in fetching water.
The statement came after a meeting between Sushanta Chaudhary, Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation of Tripura at TTA ADC Council Bhawan. We have requested the cooperation of the Minister. The Department of Drinking Water does not come under TTAADC administration, it is under Tripura government.
The TEPRA chief also urged the Tripura government to provide water tankers for the time being to alleviate the problem.
“The TTAADC area is an integral part of Tripura and the Minister also agreed on the point that we should collectively address the issues that are affecting the development of the local people of the state,” said Pradeep Debbarma .
Pradyot Debbarma also appealed to the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF) workers to distribute water in the village and provide funds for it.
