In a shocking event Assam man found dead in Agartala Tripura

Shillong: A 32-year-old truck driver transporting cattle was shot dead by BSF personnel in Meghalaya’s eastern Khasi Hills, prompting the force to order a judicial probe, officials said. Told on Sunday.

The incident took place in Mawshun village when BSF personnel guarding a check post opened fire on the truck, killing the driver Roning Nongkynrih on the spot. Mawshun is about 17 km from the India-Bangladesh border.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has ordered a court of inquiry. However, the accused officials claimed that they feared that they would be hit by the truck and acted in self-defence.

The deceased’s cousin Ribalskhem Nongkynrih, who was also in the truck, however, alleged that the BSF personnel opened fire at point-blank range.
East Khasi Hills District Superintendent of Police S Nongtnger said a team from Pynursla police station was sent to the spot and a magistrate completed legal proceedings.

“It is a sad incident. We have taken up the matter with utmost seriousness. A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Pynursla police station and further investigation is on,” he added. That no arrests have been made yet.
Expressing grief over the death, Meghalaya Frontier BSF Inspector General Pradip Kumar said immediate action has been initiated.
“I have ordered a court of inquiry which will be headed by a DIG rank officer. We will find out the facts of the case. The three officials involved in the incident have been withdrawn from the spot and are returning to the Frontier Headquarters in Shillong.
“According to the initial investigation, the officers who shot the man claimed that they realized the truck was not going to stop and that he would run in self-defense and be shot. However, we are cooperating with the police in their investigation.” “We will reach the truth,” he added.
