Manipur: In the latest development in violence-torn Manipur, several MLAs loyal to the Biren Singh government are camping in Guwahati to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 25.
According to the sources, the delegates of all the parties are present here under the leadership of the Speaker to apprise them of the current situation in the state.
Sources also revealed that three parties have arrived in Guwahati, including the BJP, the NPP party led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and two members of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), including a minister.
Additionally, a political delegation comprising 12 MLAs, including state cabinet minister L Susindro Meitei, will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Guwahati this evening.
Meanwhile, thousands of Kuki protestors in Saparmeina village on May 24 reiterated not to preach peace before a solution, demanding the central government’s immediate intervention.
Similar protests in Kangpokpi town and Keithelmanbi village were followed by a sit-in protest today at Saparmeina village in Kangpokpi district demanding immediate central government intervention with a negotiated political solution between the UPF and KNO and the governments.
Sticking to the consensus of the Kukis, “Solution First, Peace Next”, the 1,000 protesters urged the government and its machinery not to start talks or any peace process before any solution is reached.
