To discuss current situation Assam CM Sarma visited Manipur

Imphal: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on June 10 that he had come to Manipur only to discuss and build confidence-building measures amid the ongoing violence in the state.

Talking to the media, he said, “I have come to Manipur only to talk and to build confidence.”
Sarma, who visited the state on June 10, said whatever he found out, he would report it to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“I came to Manipur to meet the Chief Minister of the state N Biren Singh and other civil society organizations. During my stay here, I met the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues, leaders of our party, and civil society organizations.
Whatever I have learned during the day or any discussion that took place during the day, I will report it to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for further necessary action.”
He further said that peace and stability in Manipur is very important and let us pray to Almighty that peace not only comes to Manipur but it remains here forever.

He also expressed regret for not visiting the violence-hit state during the past month.
“Actually, I should have been a while ago. I was feeling a little guilty that I hadn’t come in the last month. My visit is purely a goodwill visit and nothing more,” he added.
CM Sarma’s visit comes exactly a week after Union Home Minister Amit Shah left Manipur for a four-day camp from May 29 to June 1 and announced several measures to restore peace and normalcy in the northeastern state. The latter has come, which has been damaged. Unrelenting violence, especially in districts like Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Bishnupur, Imphal East and West.
This is Sarma’s first visit to Manipur since violence erupted last month and the only chief minister from a northeastern state to visit the troubled state.
