To curb violence in Manipur women convention serves ultimatum

The women’s convention on the theme “Peace and Normalcy in Manipur” has given the government a stern seven-day ultimatum to stop the ongoing violence and attacks on civilians by Kuki militants.
The convention, organized by the Joint Peace Coordinating Committee for Khwairamband Ima Keithel, was held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen in Imphal East on Saturday.
The participants in the convention passed a resolution threatening to campaign for the resignation of MPs, Ministers and MLAs of Manipur if their demands were not met.
The ultimatum serves as a stark warning to the government, calling for immediate action to deal with the escalating violence and protect civilians from attacks by kuki militants.
The convention also witnessed the united efforts of various Keithel organizations committed to restoring peace in Manipur.
They pledged to launch a campaign titled “Stop War, Stop Firing, Bring Peace to Manipur”, while reiterating his opposition to the establishment of a “separate administration” within the state.
Editor of Sanaleibak Daily Hemanta Ningombam, Secretary of Kabui Teachers Association, Ranjit Golmei, Principal of DM University Chaudhary Shilaramani, social activist Dhanabir Laishram along with academicians, lawyers and others attended the convention.
