Agartala: Royalist Pradyot Kishore Debbarman-led TIPRA Motha, the party in power in the tribal district council areas, on Saturday released its election manifesto which mainly focuses on protection of indigenous people’s rights and public welfare at large. Focused on well-being.
But, there are some sensitive issues that the Debbarman-led party has managed to touch on, which are rarely noticed by most of its contemporaries.
The 18-page document is divided into three parts. In the first part, around 15 promises have been set, which will be fulfilled within 150 days if he comes to power. This part is called ‘Mission 15 in 150 Days’.
The next section is the general section where the party talks about what it wants to do in various areas related to rural development, urban issues, women and child welfare, governance and law and order.
The third part covers some of the most important issues under the heading of other important issues, where it mentions areas such as wildlife, nature and rights of special persons. In the last section, the party included environment in its manifesto.
The party has said in its election manifesto that special measures will be taken to protect and preserve the state’s rich flora and fauna. Apart from this, a comprehensive plan for conservation of natural resources of the state will be prepared and implemented.
On the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, TIPRA is, perhaps, the first political party to take a stand. In its election manifesto, the party said that people belonging to the third gender would be given equal respect and opportunity in the state. The government will also work to protect their interests and welfare. The party also promised to equip all public places with adequate facilities for special persons and persons with disabilities.
In the same section, the party promises to initiate dialogue with the central government to speed up the process of village resettlement and to speed up the fencing of unfenced border patches.
Moving on to the main highlights of the election manifesto, TIPRA has promised everything from free electricity to 50 units of free public transport for women. The party also said that a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act would also be passed in the state assembly.
It is important to mention here that Debbarman came into political limelight for his important role in the anti-CAA protests that broke out in various parts of Tripura.
The manifesto’s 15 main points include the creation of a public grievance redressal cell, empowerment of TTAADC with certainly more budgetary allocation, land rights for the poor, jobs for 20,000 Jews in both public and private sectors, world-class educational institutions, Village committee elections, student credit card that allows students to avail loans of up to Rs 5 lakh for higher education, healthcare 24×7 and entrepreneurship hub.
In addition, the party promises zero hunger, corruption, violence, dropouts, drugs and other social prejudices. The election manifesto also includes doorstep delivery of government services, fulfillment of 10 long-standing demands of MLAs, socio-economic caste survey, and resolution against CAA.
Besides, concessional loans for entrepreneurs, a special task force for women, free mobile phones for girl students above class VIII, and scooters for gifted girls are some of the key promises made by the Debbarman-led party.
Addressing a press conference during the release of the manifesto, the TIPRA supremo said, “The ideas incorporated while drafting the manifesto are not new. I am inspired by the AAP government in Delhi which has given governance Made accessible to all.I have learned something from BJP and Congress too which can be reflected here.
The Tipras have also pledged to continue their fight for Greater Tipraland until the central government agrees to meet the demand.
