New Delhi: No Indian soldier was killed or seriously injured in the clash with the Chinese PLA in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday.
Addressing Parliament on the clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh, Singh said, “On December 9, 2022, PLA troops crossed the LAC in the Yangtze area of Tawang sector and unilaterally imposed a ceasefire. The Chinese attempt was resisted by our troops in a strong and determined manner.
The ensuing face-off led to a physical clash in which the Indian Army bravely prevented the PLA from entering our territory and forced them to retreat to their posts, the defense minister said.
“As a result of the altercation, a few officials from both sides were injured. I want to share with this House that there was no loss of life or property on our side,” he added.
Singh further said that due to the timely intervention of the Indian military commanders, the PLA soldiers went back to their positions.
“Following the incident, the local commander of the area held a flag meeting with his counterpart on December 11, 2022 to discuss the issue as per the established procedures,” he added.
The Chinese side was asked to refrain from such actions and maintain peace and order on the border. Minister Singh said that this issue has also been raised with the Chinese side through diplomatic channels.
