Guwahati: Three cricketers from the Northeast have been included in the East Zone squad, which will participate in the upcoming Duleep Trophy.

Out of the three North-East cricketers, two are from Assam and one is from Tripura.

While Riyan Prag and Mukhtar Hussain have been selected from Assam, Mani sankar Mora Singh from Tripura has been included in the East Zone Duleep Trophy team.

The East Zone team will be led by West Bengal cricketer Manoj Tiwary.

The Duleep Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket competition played in India.

Named after Shri Duleepsinhji of Nawanagar (also known as ‘Dileep’), the competition IS contested by teams representing geographical regions of India.

The competition was started by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in the 1961-62 season.

The inaugural tournament was won by West Zone who defeated South Zone by 10 wickets in the final.
