Imphal: The situation is tense in Mora after the killing of two Tamil youths from the state in Myanmar. The situation in Manipur’s Indo-Myanmar border town of Mora remains tense following the killing of two youths belonging to the state in Myanmar.

In Manipur, Tengnoupal district administration has imposed prohibitory orders in Mora to prevent any untoward incident in the area due to the tense situation.

Notably, two youths (Tamils) from the northeastern state of Manipur were allegedly shot dead in Myanmar.
Both the youths belonged to the Indo-Myanmar border town of Mora in Manipur.

The deceased have been identified as M Iyanar and P Mohun of Mora, Manipur.
The two were allegedly shot dead in Tumu, Myanmar on Tuesday.

The local people of Manipur’s Mora are demanding the Myanmar authorities to hand over the bodies of the dead youth.

According to reports, some local people of Mora pelted stones in Myanmar on Wednesday and set a Myanmar army post on fire.
Since then, Manipur government officials and police have asked the locals of Moreh not to cross into Myanmar.

Notably, much of the India-Myanmar border in Manipur is unguarded and people cross freely during the day for trade and other activities.
