Dimapur: The Rising People’s Party has appealed to the Center to stop funding PMJVK in Nagaland. The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has appealed to the Government of India, particularly the Ministry of Minority Affairs, to stop the release of Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) in Nagaland.

The party made the appeal after learning that the state cabinet has sent a list of projects to be included under PMJVK 2022-23 to the Ministry of Minority Affairs for approval of Rs 297.80 crore.
In a letter to Union Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani on Monday. The RPP urged her to look into the track record of the United Democratic Union (UDA) government in the state which points to “systemic corruption”.
He also appealed to the ministry to set up an independent review on the implementation of all the projects approved in the past in the state.

In the meantime, the party said, funding or allocation of projects could be withheld or withheld. He added that the Government of India can completely stop this “corruption madness in the state”.

The RPP further urged the Center to be aware and vigilant not to perpetuate the “cycle of corruption” in the state.
According to the latest CAG report, the party said, misappropriation of funds, loss, theft, etc., involving government money, is Rs 207.25 crore.

The CAG report also highlighted that 399 projects remained incomplete besides utilization certificates worth Rs 456.2 crore, it said, pending submission.

The letter, signed by RPP vice-president Vithu Zhao and secretary Akum Loong Kamar, alleged that central schemes like MGNREGA are a dismal failure in the state where beneficiaries are barely getting five days’ wages.
The party quoted Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee chief K Theri as saying that 21 Nagaland People’s Front MLAs who had recently joined the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party were paid Rs 2.50 crore each. , “which were apparently diverted from the MGNREGA fund”. He added that the allegation is yet to be denied.

Nagaland is the worst performing state under six parameters (poverty, health, affordable energy, sustainable cities, industries and infrastructure) as per NITI Aayog’s SDGI Index 2021, RPP said. According to the State Energy and Climate Index, it is the worst performing state.
