The rights group, along with the United Nations, raised the issue of abduction of Arunachal youth through the Chinese PLA
New Delhi: The Rights and Risk Analysis Group (RRAG) on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Voluntary Disappearances (WGEID) against the enforced disappearance of Tapor Pullom of Arunachal Pradesh. He was reportedly abducted by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. (PLA) on September 11, 2015.
He was abducted by PLA from Taji Bogo Pass under Mani Gong Circle in Shi Yumi District (formerly West Siang District) in Arunachal Pradesh (India) near the Indo-China border.
The whereabouts and fate of Tapor Pullom, who was about 40 years old at the time of the alleged abduction of the Chinese PLA, are still unknown, Prague said in a statement.
The Government of India, Government of Arunachal Pradesh and its agencies have failed to respond to repeated requests from family members to bring the victim back.
The PLA often invades the territory of Arunachal Pradesh (India) and kidnaps the local tribal people of Arunachal Pradesh.
On January 18, 2022, an Arunachal Pradesh youth, identified as Miram Taron, aged 17, was abducted by the Chinese PLA from within the Indian territory in the Lungta Jor area of Upper Siang District and held for nine days. He was later handed over to Indian authorities.
Similarly, on September 2, 2020, five Arunachal youths from Nacho Circle in Upper Subansiri District were identified as Tanu Bakar, Prasad Ringling, Ngaru Deri, Dongtu Ebia and Toch Singkam , who were identified by the PLA on the Indo-China border. RRAG Director Sohas Chakma, after getting permission from Tapur Plum’s family, requested WGEID to intervene with the Government of the People’s Republic of China for his speedy and safe release.
“In the last six years, Tapor Pullom’s wife has died and his five children and one daughter-in-law, who are believed to be still alive by his father, are awaiting his return. This is very painful for the family and this issue should end immediately with the release of Tapur Pullom’s by the government of the People’s Republic of China, “said Suhas Chakma, Director, RRAG.
