Shillong: The Meghalaya BJP termed the police raid on Bernard Marak’s farmhouse as political vendetta. Meghalaya BJP president Ernest Mawrie has backed his party colleague Bernard Marak, saying the police raid on his farmhouse was a “political vendetta”.
Meghalaya BJP chief Ernest Mawrie said, “I have personally spoken to dignitaries in Tora and surrounding areas and I have come to the conclusion that Marak has been unfairly developed and discredited. done.”
He added: “It seems he is a victim of political vendetta.”
“It is also very clear that this is a political vendetta as the house of Bernard Marak’s mother was also raided without a warrant. This is pure harassment,” Meghalaya BJP chief Ernest Mowry added.
He also urged the Meghalaya government to “withdraw all charges against him (Bernard Marak) which are politically motivated and intend to tarnish the image of the party (BJP)”.
Earlier, Meghalaya BJP vice-president Bernard Marak had accused Chief Minister Conrad Sangma of directing the police to shoot.
“Conrad Sangma has instructed the police to register a case against me and shoot me,” Meghalaya BJP vice-president Bernard Marak said.
The Meghalaya BJP vice-president added that he was “not absconding” and “not trying to evade arrest”.
