'The Kukis' part from history book to be removed, Basanta Kumar

Imphal: Responding to the concern raised by social activist Maheshwar Thounaojam regarding the allegedly distorted history in the Class 11 syllabus, Education Minister Basanta Kumar Thounaojam has assured to removed the chapter “The Kukis” written by M Kaoba Singh.
Addressing the media during a press conference held today at his residence Keishampat under Imphal West district, Maheshwar alleged that some information regarding Kuki’s migration to Manipur was allegedly shared by M Kauba Singh and BSM.
The book written ‘History of Manipur’ has been misinterpreted.
He continued and said that according to the chapter “The Kuki” of this book it is written that “some Kuki tribes migrated to Manipur during prehistoric times”.
The above information is completely wrong as Manipur has a written date of 33 AD. Also according to James Johnstone’s book “Manipur and Naga Hills (1896) it is written that the term Kuki was heard between 1830 and 1840.
By observing the above two facts, it is clearly proved that part of the date of class 11 Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur is wrong.
Studying such a syllabus will mislead the future generation, he added while discussing with the Education Minister to scrap the said chapter. Mahesh said that the minister also assured to look into the matter.
He also said that in the history of Manipur there was never an Anglo-Kuqi war. This fact was already released as an RTI reply from the Union Home Ministry.
Unfortunately, the Anglo-Kuki war is still a part of Delhi University, which is very sad and condemnable.
