Tripura Chief Minister Biplap Deb on Tuesday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

In the meeting, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb discussed with Union Home Minister Amit Shah the issue of rehabilitation in the state.

After the meeting, Biplab Deb tweeted, “Informed him (Amit Shah) about the progress of Bru Rehabilitation in Tripura.”

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have started resettling in Tripura following the signing of a four-party resettlement agreement in 2020.
Among other issues discussed at the meeting, the issue of land with Assam Rifles was also discussed between Tripura Chief Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The issue of Assam Rifles land was also discussed. He (Amit Shah) assured all possible help from the central government. Thank you very much for your continued support for the development of Tripura, ”said Biplab Deb.

The Supreme Court recently reprimanded the Tripura government for not giving 121 acres of land in Agartala to the Assam Rifles, which has been in its possession since 1951.

The court was hearing a case filed by the Union of India against the Tripura government in Mauja Bhati, Abhoy Nagar, over 121,358 acres of land in the possession of the Assam Rifles.

The land was transferred to the Assam Rifles by a presidential order in November 1951. It has been with them ever since.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb also apprised the Union Home Minister of the “hurdles in opening the Sainik schools in the state”.
