GUWAHATI: The fifth edition of World Bicycle Day was celebrated in Guwahati. GAMOF (Green and Active Mobility Forum) in collaboration with Cotton University by organising a discussion session between various stakeholders and experts at Sedmerson Hall this Friday.
The theme of the program was to make Guwahati cycling friendly with the aim of bringing various stakeholders into a platform where the importance and need for cycling as an option for urban travel or transportation could be discussed and the future. Roadmap can be prepared.
Former Minister for Guwahati Development Department and MLA East Guwahati Siddharth Bhattacharya was the Chief Guest and Cotton University Vice Chancellor Prof. Bhabesh Chandra Goswami was the keynote speaker of the session. Leading swimmer Elvis Ali Hazarika and Archana Tiwari, founder of Parikalpana were the special guests.
Renowned radio jockey and Radio Mirchi youth icon RJ Gorab also attended the event. Bubble Chandra Dey, a daily cyclist, and Karobi Gogoi, a teacher at the Sanskrit Grocery School, were honored for their role in promoting cycling.
Seven different experts from different fields participated in the panel discussion moderated by Suresh Ranjan Goduka (Researcher at IIT, Founder of Jeevan Initiative and GAMOF Mentor).
