KOHIMA: The central government has extended the ceasefire agreement with the Niki Somi faction of the NSCN.
The ceasefire agreement between the Center and the Nikkei Somi faction of the NSCN has been extended by another year.
Notably, the NIA has offered a reward of Rs 1 million on Nikki Somi, who led the Nikki group of the NSCN, for ambushing an Indian Army convoy in Manipur’s Chandel in 2015 and killing 18 soldiers. What was announced?
The Nikkei Somi faction of the NSCN is under a ceasefire agreement with the Center from September 2021.
“The ceasefire agreement is in place between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Niki group and it has been decided to extend the agreement with the group for a period of one year from September 8, 2022 to September 7, 2022. , 2023,” said an MHA statement.
The Center is holding peace talks with breakaway factions of the NSCN apart from the NSCN-IM after entering into ceasefire agreements.
The groups that have signed ceasefire agreements are: NSCN-NK, NSCN-R, NSCN K-Khango and NSCN (K) Niki.
