The BJP has demanded the resignation of Meghalaya CM Konrad Sangma over alleged corruption.
The Meghalaya BJP’s demand came after the dome of the state assembly building under construction in New Shillong Township collapsed.
Notably, the BJP is part of the NPP-led MDA government in Meghalaya.
“Conrad Sangma should resign as Chief Minister of Meghalaya. They have failed to fight corruption, ”said Bernard Marak, vice-president of the Meghalaya BJP.
Marak further claimed that “the BJP has approved the appointment of Konrad Sangma as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya” which is expected to lead to “good governance and overall development of the state with zero corruption”.
“Everyone is disappointed because the poor have remained poor and the weak have died, including young people who are stranded without employment opportunities,” he said.
The Meghalaya BJP further encouraged CM Konrad Sangma to order a CBI inquiry into the collapse of the dome of the state assembly building under construction in New Shilling Township.
The Meghalaya BJP leader added: “People are disappointed and have lost to Conrad Sangma. Therefore, the BJP wants them to accept the moral responsibility of failing to tackle corruption and resign.”
